Yorkshire v Kent - Day 1 15.5.2025

Kent's Danish international Amjad Khan recorded career-best bowling figures
to upstage century-maker Craig White on the opening day at Canterbury.Khan, a 21-year-old Copenhagen-born pace bowler who took 16 wickets at last
year's ICC Trophy in Canada, finished with six for 52 his maiden
five-wicket haul in first-class cricket as Yorkshire were dismissed for
239.
White blasted his way to 104, but once again Yorkshire paid the price for a
late order batting collapse after losing their last five wickets for just
seven runs.
Skipper Darren Lehmann made 31 and Gary Fellows 42, but Yorkshire's innings
limped along as they collected only their second batting point of the
season.
To compund Yorkshire's woes, Kent raced on to 61 without loss at the close
to put them in a commanding position.

The Team, Yorkshire v Kent 14.5.2025

YORKSHIRE will hand a recall to Matthew Wood and Steve Kirby for the championship clash with Kent, starting tomorrow.
Wood will come in for Michael Vaughan while Kirby, who was left out of the side which lost inside three days to Somerset, is welcomed back in place of Matthew Hoggard.
The trip to Kent takes on extra importance with Yorkshire looking to kick-start their season after a disappointing start.
The defending champions haven't won a game in the competition since their title-clinching success against Glamorgan at Scarborough last August.
Meanwhile, Hoggard and Vaughan joined up with the England squad at Lord's yesterday ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
Yorkshire v Kent: (from) Wood, White, Lumb, Lehmann, McGrath, Fellows, Blakey, Dawson, Silverwood, Sidebottom, Kirby, Gray.
All-rounder Gavin Hamilton is hoping to join up with the squad at Canterbury for the National league game on Sunday. Hamilton starts his comeback in the second XI at Worcester tomorrow.

Frizell County Championship- Yorkshire v Somerset - Day2 10.5.2025

DAY 2

A late order batting collapse left Yorkshire frustrated after the second days play at Somerset yesterday.

Yorkshire lost 5 wickets for 45 runs and play has resumed this morning with Yorkshire 261 runs ahead in their second innings with their last pair at the crease.

Half Centuries from the aggressive Craig White and the patient Michael Lumb appeared to have given Yorkshire the upper hand but Somerset fought back in the final session.

Earlier Ryan Sidebottom claimed two wickets as Yorkshire polished off the Somerset tail inside the first hour to give the hosts a slender 1st innings lead of 19.

Frizell County Championship- Yorkshire v Somerset - Day3 10.5.2025

DAY 3

Yorkshire today crushed to a second successive Frizzell County Championship defeat at the hands of Somerset. It was a disappointment for the current Champions who appeared to be in control for much of the contest. But after setting the hosts a target of 262 for victory Somerset made surprisingly light work of the run chase.

Home skipper Marcus Trescothick scored a blistering 134 before finally being dismissed with only 28 runs being required for victory.
Things could have been different had Trescothick been given out caught at Silly Point by Michael Lumb when on 47 but Umpire David Constant waved away the appeal and Somerset were never in any danger after that.

Yorkshire Skipper Darren Lehmann will point to the fact that his side failed to score enough runs second time around.
After being in command Yorkshire lost their last 5 wickets for just 50 runs when they should have set Somerset a higher total for victory.

Yorkshire must now pick themselves back up again for next weeks trip to Kent when the County will be searching for a much-needed victory to get their season back on track.

To make matters worse Yorkshire look like being deducted a point for a slow over rate.
