Yorkshire Open Title Defence Against Surrey 20.11.2024

Yorkshire begin their defence of the County Championship at Headingley against their keenest rivals Surrey on 24 April and conclude the campaign against Kent also at Headingley 5 months later. Members will be pleased that two Championship fixtures, including the Roses match, start on Friday to give plenty of weekend viewing. Scarborough will host Somerset in July and Leicestershire in September for both Championship and Norwich Union fixtures. The list generally is well balanced with no cricket during the Headingley Test when Sachin Tendulkar will return to Yorkshire ten years after his previous sojourn to Headingley.

In the Norwich Union League Durham are the visitors for the floodlit fixture on Monday 5 August with other matches on Bank Holiday Tuesday 4 June v Worcestershire and Saturday 3 August v Nottinghamshire.

The Benson & Hedges Cup starts early season with the same groups giving home fixtures against Leicestershire and Lancashire.

Away fixtures include Surrey at Guildford, Sussex at Arundel and Hampshire at their new Rose Bowl ground. Whilst in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy the team has a long trip to Exmouth (Devon) prior to hopefully a fourth round encounter away to Northamptonshire.

The County Board team are home to Somerset in the third round of the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy with the match scheduled for North Marine Road at Scarborough.
