News Archive - February 2002Yorkshire Announce Loss 26.2.2025Yorkshire County Cricket Club today announced a loss for the year of �46,058.
Increasing cricket expenditure as well as ground expenditure was a contributory factor but the future looks bright with Membership maintained and match income showing a healthy increase. The Ground Redevelopment is on course for completion in time for the Natwest Series One Day International in July and the npower Test Match at the end of August when a new look Headingley will be on show to the cricketing public. Whilst it is a disappointing financial result the Club is moving forward both on and off the field. David Byas is to be proposed for Honorary Life Membership. There are no Committee elections with the four retiring candidates returned unopposed � Philip Sharpe (North), Sidney Fielden (South), Paul Ablett (West) and Geoff Cope (Central). The Club's Annual General Meeting is to take place on Saturday 23rd March (10.30am) at the new Cricket Centre in St Michael�s Lane. Yorkshire opt for Youth on Tour 25.2.2025Yorkshire CCC have announced that along with their experienced regular players they will be including 3 potential stars of the future in their squad for the Pre-Season Tour to Grenada in March. Fast-bowler David Stiff, batsman John Sadler and all-rounder Alex Stead are all being given the chance to learn from first-team regulars including Chris Silverwood, Gavin Hamilton and Richard Blakey. David Stiff is an addition to the squad in replacement of fast-bowler Ryan Sidebottom who has flown to Australia to join the Academy team.
The full touring party will be: Vic Craven Gary Fellows Anthony McGrath Scott Richardson Chris Taylor Michael Lumb John Sadler Chris Silverwood Andy Gray David Stiff Richard Blakey Simon Guy Gavin Hamilton Alex Stead The tour will include a triangular tournament v Sussex and Northamptonshire as well as matches against local West Indian teams. |
