Yorkshire v Sussex -Day 3 15.6.2025

Yorkshire slumped deeper into trouble despite a rain affected 3rd day against Sussex.
Less than two hours play was possible but it was still enough time for Sussex to bowl Yorkshire out and then force the follow-on.
Stand-in Skipper Richard Blakey led by example with another half century but he found little support from the Yorkshire tail and the Tykes were bowled out for 216.
Yorkshire will resume this morning on 8-0 still needing another 219 to avoid an innings defeat.

A Wet Day at Headingley brightened by the visit of 1000 school children 15.6.2025

By John Ward

Heavy rain on day 3 of Yorkshire v Sussex wiped out the entire morning's play almost spoilt the enterprise of Yorkshire County Cricket Club in inviting and hosting about 1000 school children to watch the day's play. However they handled a disappointing situation superbly, shepherding the children into the covered rugby league stands, where the players from both Yorkshire and Sussex moved among them, chatting and signing autographs. Tykes fast bowler Chris Silverwood was a particular favourite.
Acting Captain Richard Blakey said later how much the players appreciated the presence and enthusiasm of the children, on this the first occasion the club has been involved in this sort of initiative on a large scale. He was keen to see it done more often.
Liz Sutcliffe and Sharon Gott from the club's Marketing Department expressed their thanks to all who helped organise the event which was a success despite the weather. They are keen to repeat the event in the future hopefully encouraging more children to become involved at Headingley with Yorkshire CCC.
