Yorkshire Fail In Their Defence of the C & G Trophy 29/5/2025

Yorkshire, 2002 winners of the C & G Trophy have failed to progress to the quarter-finals of this season's competition and therefore lost their grip on this magnificent trophy.

Away at Worcestershire, Yorkshire won the toss and elected to field first. Outstanding batting by Leatherdale (a Yorkshire man by birth) who scored his highest on-day score of 80 and Solanki, 60 gave Worcestershire a score of 244-8 from their 50 overs.
The Yorkshire bowlers shared the wickets with Gough back from injury taking 2, along with Bresnan, Gray, Silverwood, Vaughan and Hoggard who only bowled 3 balls before limping off with a knee injury which could affect his chances of being picked for the England One-Day Squad.
Yorkshire came to the crease full of hope, but this only lasted minutes as Michael Lumb was bowled Hayward, caught Batty from the second ball. Michael Vaughan made 47 but the rest of the specialist batsmen couldn't seem to break the 30 runs mark, Worcestershire bowler Mornantau Hayward struck ending with 5-49. Wood batting at 4 made 29, Yuvraj made 27 and Richard Blakey hit 23. After that the collapse began, Gray and Gough fell without scoring and Bresnan could only make 14.
Yorkshire were all out for 177, 67 runs short of their target.
