YORKSHIRE DEFEATED IN REDUCED OVER DAY/NIGHT MATCH V DERBYSHIRE

After the tremendous amount of rain which fell during Monday and Tuesday, credit must go to the Headingley groundstaff that any play at all was possible in this latest totesport fixture against Derbyshire. With play delayed until 8.00pm, the match was reduced to just 17 overs per side.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Yorkshire never really got into second gear. Pick of the Yorkshire bowlers being McGrath who took 1 for 16 off three overs, the pitch seemed to suit the slower pace. Some excellent batting from Jon Moss (54 no) supported throughout, allowed Derbyshire to reach 128 for 5.

With a run rate of 7.59 to achieve, Yorkshire were always playing catch up. Superb bowling from Derbyshire's M Sheik who took 2 for 10 off his four overs pinned the Tykes back to finish 29 runs short.

Derbyshire 128 for 5 off 17 Overs : Yorkshire 99 for 7 off 17 Overs

Derbyshire win by 29 runs.
