Yorkshire Defeated by Worcestershire in a 2-Day Match at Scarborough 15/8/2024

Yorkshire 130 and 238 lost to Worcestershire 91 and 278 for 5 by five wickets at Scarborough

Worcestershire put their first-innings nightmare behind them to record a two-day victory against Yorkshire at the North Marine Road Ground. Yorkshire added 65 more runs in their second innings in which Craig White top-scored with 54 and received good contributions from all down the tail, as Guy, Gray and Dawson all making scores in the twenties. Bearing in mind the avalanche of wickets on Day 1, chasing 278 should have been a tough prospect for Worcestershire. But as the pitch lost its juice, Ben Smith and Gareth Batty led Worcestershire to victory in the dying overs of the day. After Anurag Singh (41) and Graeme Hick (47) had made a solid start, Smith kept his cool to score 87 not out and shared an unbroken, match-winning partnership of 90 with Gareth Batty, who was unbeaten on 54 from 59 balls.
