In the only Roses fixture to be held at Old Trafford this season as the local rivals play in different divisions in all but the Twenty20 Cup the tie promised to be an exciting one.
However it was two Yorkshiremen playing for Lancashire who stole the show. Leeds-born Opener Iain Sutcliffe beat the Lancashire record in One-Day Cricket making 152 runs in a Lancashire total of 297-5 from 50 overs. Then as Yorkshire came into bat Gary Keedy, born in Wakefield and a product of the Yorkshire Academy took 3-42 from his 10 overs as the White Rose County were bowled out for 178. Yorkshire had started well with White and Wood making 36 and 14 repectively. Chris Taylor and Andrew Gale steadied the side and looked to be on their way to making the match close as they kept up with the required run rate. Then Keedy struck and both were dismissed in their early 30s. Apart from some resilience from Wicket keeper Simon Guy the rest of the Yorkshire line-up were dismissed for low scores.
Steve Kirby was the pick of the Yorkshire bowlers taking 3-46 from his 10 overs.
Yorkshire's next match is the Frizzell County Championship Match against Essex at Headingley starting Wednesday 21st April at 10.45am.
