Yorkshire recorded an outstanding victory in the 1st Twenty20 Cup Match at Headingley v Derbyshire.
Put in to bat first the home side made an impressive total of 186-5. New overseas signing Stephen Fleming fell in his first ball lbw to Dominic Cork for 0 but other than that the Yorkshire batsmen had good spells at the crease. Matthew Wood made 19 and then a brilliant partnership between Michael Lumb and Yuvraj Singh saw them score 42 and 44 respectively. Lumb's 42 came off only 22 balls in 16 minutes.
Craig White back in the side at Headingley for the 1st time this season made a quickfire 24 and the men not out were Richard Blakey on 30 and Tim Bresnan 13.
Set a target of 187 to win Derbyshire opener Michael Di Venuto hit 67 off 45 balls and deserved his Man of the Match Award but noone else made a real impact in the Derbyshire batting and they were all out for 141 in 18.1 overs.
Ryan Sidebottom picked up 2-21 and Swanepoel, Bresnan, Gray and Yuvraj took a wicket a-piece. The other 4 wickets were run-outs.
Yorkshire now travel to Leicestershire with a good win which should boost confidences around the County.
