Gough and Silverwood in form, as Wood shines with the Bat 19/4/2025
Day 1 of the Frizzell County Championship Match went to the White Rose County.
Captain McGrath lost his first toss and Northants decided to bat first.  A decision they may well be regretting.  Opening the bowling at the Rugby Stand End Darren Gough struck in his first over claiming the wicket of Powell.  Chris Silverwood followed suit in his first over at the Kirkstall Lane end as White fell for only 2 runs.

48.1 overs later Northamptonshire were all out for a total of 184.  Only Cook and Bailey made any real impact scoring 74 and 31 respectively.

The final bowling figures read;

Gough             12    1    40    3

Silverwood       10    2    45    3

Wood continued on and reached his first 100 of the season in 189 minutes off 170 balls including 15 x 4 and 2x6.

At the close of play on Day 1 Yorkshire were 210- 2, 26 runs ahead.  With Lumb at the crease with Wood on 33.
