In the Somerset innings, Ricky Ponting again was the thorn in the Yorkshire side as the Australian hit another fine century (113 off 107 balls) to go with the one he scored in the County Championship a few days earlier. Supported by Dutch (34) and Hildreth (32), Somerset lodged a respectable score of 252. Pick of the Yorkshire attack was once again Ian Harvey, whose match figures were 9 overs taking 1 for 44. After being set 254 to win under the Duckworth - Lewis method, the early loss of Harvey had no effect to the chasing side.
