YORKSHIRE FALL AT FINAL HURDLE IN TWENTY20 CUP

Defeat at Chester le Street last night meant archrivals Lancashire have managed to pip Yorkshire to the quarterfinals of the 2004 Twenty20 Cup.

After winning the toss and batting first, Yorkshire never really recovered from losing six wickets for just 32 runs in the space of seven overs. However a spirited performance by Vic Craven who remained unbeaten on 44 off 47 balls saw the Tykes reach 126 for 7.

The total never really looked high enough to post the victory Yorkshire needed to qualify for the next stages and Durham reached the total with nearly two overs to spare, finishing on 129 for 3.
