Bowling figures of 5-37 by Australian Darren Lehmann helped Yorkshire to victory over Essex at Chelmsford by 137 runs.
Yorkshire made 363 in their first innings including 115 by Phil Jaques and 93 from McGrath.
Essex replied with 359 4 runs adrift. Captain Ronnie Irani making 107.
Yorkshire started well in their second innings with opener Matthew Wood making 81 but the bowling of Danish Kaneria who took 7-65 restricted Yorkshire to just 249 in the second innings, which at the time may have not seemed to be enough. However the Yorkshire bowling of Lehmann assisted by Dawson, Silverwood and Kirby ensured that only 3 of the Essex made it into double figures in their second innings, ex-Yorkshire bowler Darren Gough one of those making 15. Essex were bowled out for just 116. 137 runs short of the target.
Yorkshire 21 points
Essex 7 points
Yorkshire must now continue this form for the trip to Durham starting on Tuesday 8th June
