Despite a snow covered Headingley the majority of the Yorkshire squad today reported back for pre-season training. Keen for a to return to division 1 in both the Frizzell County Championship and National Cricket League the players and coaching staff were put through their paces by fitness conditioner Simon Ward in the gym and indoor cricket centre. The players are also having individual net sessions with the batting and bowling coaches ready for the pre-season friendlies against Durham and Lancashire and also the University Match against Bradford/Leeds University in April.
For new Director of Cricket David Byas it was the first time he had seen his new charges and he was impressed with the standard of fitness. He commented, “ the lads have been putting in the hours throughout winter and I am pleased with what I have seen today”.
Yorkshire has 6 players representing their County at varying levels over the winter months.
