Byas Announced as New Director of Cricket 1/12/2024
Yorkshire CCC today announced the appointment of David Byas as Director of Cricket as from January 1st 2004.  David comes to Yorkshire on a 2 year contract, with the total support of the Board to hopefully return the Club to it's former standing within English Cricket.

David's strong character and respect within the County's players and Members, was a key factor in selecting David for this very important appointment.  We feel sure that David's strong management skills will establish a cricket structure within YCCC, whereby we can develop the players for future success.

Geoff Cope who holds the position at present, moves to Operations Director with responsibility for the Ground Operations/Maintenance and liaising with YCB, Yorkshire Schools and all Cricket Administration.

At the same time YCCC announced the signing of Ian Harvey from South Australia as their second overseas player for 2004.  Harvey joins Yorkshire joins Yorkshire on a 1-year contract with the option to extend to year 2 depending upon the FCF decision on the number of overseas players for the 2005 season.

We firmly believe that Ian will fill the all-rounder position at Yorkshire, which we have badly missed over the last 2 seasons, with injuries to Craig White and Gavin Hamilton.
