As usual, Byas led from the front and once again his batting was particularly effective in the first half of the season when he three times got into the 90s in the Championship without quite managing to make it into three figures. Nevertheless, he was the club's second top-scorer with 875 runs in that competition and he was also to the fore in one-day cricket, hitting an unbeaten 104 against Hampshire in the B&H Super Cup and 72 v Lancashire and 71* v Gloucestershire in the NatWest Trophy. Here's hoping that both he and his team will enjoy great times in this his benefit season.
