Scarborough Cricket Club’s history spans a century and a half, the club being founded in 1849 when the first matches were played on Castle Hill.
1849 First recorded match involving Scarborough Cricket Club
1863 Club reconstituted
Tenancy of a field on North Marine Road obtained
1876 The first Festival
MCC beat Yorkshire by 7 wickets
1883 Northern Marine Road purchased at a cost of £3,500 from Mr John Woodall
1895 New Pavilion built at a cost of £2,150
1896 First County match played at Scarborough
Yorkshire beat Leicestershire by 162 runs
1926 North Stand built at a cost of £6,700
1956 West Stand built at a cost of £16,000
1986 Centenary Festival
1995 Construction of Jack Knowles building at a cost of £210,000
1997 All weather nets and press box built at a total cost of £50,000
1998 Enclosure, tea room refurbished at a cost of £95,000
2001 Yorkshire win CricInfo County Championship at Scarborough
