The Yorkshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that the Costcutter Supermarkets Group are to become an Official Partner and Main Shirt Sponsor for the start of the 2004 season.
The agreement, initially for a one-year period, will provide the Club with a significant six-figure sum and includes full branding of both the white playing shirt and the new look navy National Cricket League shirt. All training kit will also be branded with the Costcutter logo.
Ian Bishop, Marketing Director of The Yorkshire County Cricket Club commented, “we are delighted that Costcutter and their associated group of companies have decided to increase their already considerable support for the County Club. The substantial amount of money paid for the shirt branding on top of the initial funding for the new state of the art scoreboard, surely makes this deal the biggest one year agreement in county cricket history”.
Nick Ivel, Costcutter Finance Director continues, “Costcutter are proud to be associated with The Yorkshire County Cricket Club and are keen to play a part in their continued revival. We believe that on the field Yorkshire has the right blend of experience and youth to bring success that the county deserves”.
Trading and Marketing Director for Costcutter, Angela Barber confirmed the Supermarkets commitment, “off the field, we have seen the tremendous job the management team have done turning the fortunes of the club around. Costcutter have taken the decision to be a part of the revival and I would urge other Yorkshire based business’ to fully support the club.”
As part of the new £1.5 million North East Enclosure development at Headingley, Costcutter will also be providing the initial funding for a state of the art electronic scoreboard costing circa £270,000. To enable the club to finance the remainder of this project, YCCC would gladly welcome donations and new sponsors, which in turn, will enable Headingley to become one of the most prestigious cricket venues in the world.
