England U19s brush aside Uganda in World Cup

England Under-19s continued their winning form in their World Cup campaign, comfortably beating Uganda by 213 runs in Chittagong in their second match to virtually guarantee a place in the next stage of the tournament.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Uganda would have been fairly satisfied in restricting England to 259 for 7 in 50 overs. Only Luke Wright and Samit Patel reached 50 for England but four other batsmen reached double figures in a steady batting display.
Uganda's reply never got going as England's bowling attack made rapid inroads. Both Tim Bresnan and David Stiff finished the match with impressive figures of four for seven with Mark Lawson picking up the other two wickets for 13 runs as Uganda were bowled out for a mere 46. There were nine wides and three no balls in that total.
England coach Andy Pick said after the game, "I am happy with the performance of the team; the players performed up to expectations. There are no special plans or strategies for our next match against South Africa; we will play normally and hopefully win."
After showing good form in the warm-up matches, England captain Alastair Cook could accept his relative lack of runs in the tournament to date. "I haven't scored many runs today or in the last match but cricket is a team game," he said. "The team played well and 259 is a competitive score, so I am not worried about my form and hopefully, I will play well in the next game."
