Surrey 200 for 3 beat Yorkshire 199 by seven wickets at The Oval
Mark Butcher made the most of a rare chance in limited-overs cricket with 104 from 107 balls in Surrey's comfortable seven-wicket win over bottom-placed Yorkshire at The Oval.
Butcher, who was only playing because of an injury to Ian Ward, hit 16 boundaries, and with the help of another England one-day international outcast, Mark Ramprakash (60*), Surrey cruised home with seven overs remaining. For Yorkshire, it was a sixth defeat in seven matches, but they were thankful to their overseas player, Stephen Fleming, who guided them to a respectable 199 with 90 from 107 balls after fellow opener Matthew Wood was caught off the very first ball of the game. Ian Salisbury took 3 for 40 and Adam Hollioake 3 for 7 from only 1.5 overs.
