With the loss of form in Blakey's batting and wicket keeping, Guy was given an extended run in the first team, although not making many runs, his 42 against Somerset suggests he may well develop into a useful batsman. His keeping was clean and tidy and he will look back on his 19 dismissals last season with satisfaction. It should be an interesting dual between Guy and Blakey for the first team spot this year.
