Yorkshire & Gough Clear The Air

Yorkshire CCC have satisfied themselves that Darren Gough's appearance at Chobham Cricket Club on Sunday was an impromptu affair.

Yorkshire's Chief Executive Chris Hassell having spoken to Darren Gough and to Bunbury organiser David English said "At Darren's Benefit Golf Day at Finchley on Friday David suggested to Darren he might like to bring his family for a day out at Chobham on Sunday with plenty of entertainment for the kids- there was no mention of playing. On arrival with his brother-in-law and their families Darren was asked if he would like to bat- which he did scoring 50 in quick time. After the break and some tea having signed numerous autographs he bowled three overs off two paces and then left the ground having signed more autographs".

Duncan Fletcher the England Coach also confirmed to Yorkshire that he was happy with the explanation and said that mental preparation was very important and a round of golf or a day out with the family was ideal relaxation.

Chris Hassell confirmed that the Yorkshire Committee was satisfied with his enquiries and wished Darren every success in the Test against Australia on Thursday.
