Yorkshire Tea gets a slice of the action

Yorkshire County Cricket Club players enjoyed their first Cricket Tea of the season today, not down at their local clubs but at the home of Yorkshire Tea, Taylors of Harrogate.

Yorkshire Tea have been official sponsors of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club for the past three seasons, and the relationship has been so successful that they have pledged their support until 2003. To celebrate the signing of the new contract and to launch the 2001 season for YCCC in style, Taylors invited players, coaches and officials to enjoy a tea party, complete with cream cakes galore, at their sister company Bettys Craft Bakery.

Staff at the Bakery had pulled out the stops for the team, with a giant cake in the shape of a cricket bat and edible cricket balls for each player. New Australian Coach, Wayne Clark who was with the team was very impressed with the Yorkshire hospitality, saying, "If this is what all Yorkshire Cricket Teas are like then I've definitely come to the right place!"

Marketing Manager for Taylors of Harrogate, Katy Squire said "Obviously tea and cricket make the perfect blend, so we're delighted that Yorkshire Tea will be supporting the County side, and indeed cricket across Yorkshire for the next few years. We're looking forward to toasting many future successes- with a cup of Yorkshire Tea, of course!"

Ends 6/4/01
