Haroon Stars in Yorkshire Finale

Yorkshire Schools concluded their South African Tour with a tense victory by one wicket at Langa Township against a Western Province Development team.

Bowling first they restricted Province to 133 all-out in the 49th over with Tim Bresnan 6.1.12.4, James Ward 8.3.10.3 and Dan Broadbent 10.2.28.2 taking the honours on a difficult day with a strong wind blowing.

Schools started badly with James Townsend bowled first ball but Haroon Rashid steadied the ship with a controlled innings of 79 before he was run out when the scores were level. The only other player to reach double figures was James Chervak with 10. The pitch was of indifferent bounce and it exposed the frailties of Schools batting but Rashid's innings was a well disciplined effort despite some poor running between wickets.

However a satisfactory outcome enabled the team to look back on some memorable experiences including a run up Table Mountain which took about 90 minutes. Great friendships were forged with marvellous memories of 10 wonderful days in the Cape.
