Yorkshire Captain thanks benefit supporters

David Byas, captain of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, whose benefit year finished on 31st December 2000 is thought to have made in the region of �94,000.

The popular captain from the East Coast paid tribute to all those people who had helped and supported him. David said, "There are so many people who I couldn't have done without. Many people worked tirelessly on my behalf and in a lot of cases I just had to turn up at functions". He added, "The support received from the County Committee and the Yorkshire Members was just tremendous - there was no way I could have done this on my own".
