Yorkshire County Cricket Club today signed Scott Richardson (22) as a early order batsman after a number of impressive performances in the Second Eleven with scores of 72 v Lancashire, 69 v Durham, 71 v Worcester.
Coach Arnie Sidebottom spoke highly of his technique and ability to bat for long periods. Scott has been with Leicestershire Seconds for the last three seasons without breaking into their First Eleven. He is former captain of Manchester Grammar School.
Yorkshire have also offered Academy contracts to three scholarship cricketers who have shown outstanding form this season and who all play for the Academy in the Yorkshire League.
David Stiff from Batley Grammar School is in the England squad for the Under 15 World Cup taking place in July/August. At 6'3" he is a strike bowler of fearsome pace.
Nick Thornicroft from Easingwold School is also a right arm strike bowler who will probably partner Stiff in opening the England schools attack in the World Cup.
Joe Sayers from St Mary's School in Menston was captain of England schools last season and is a left handed top order stylish bat with tremendous potential. Also a brilliant fielder who has acted as twelfth man for the First Eleven.
