Yorkshire's Cricket Committee has unanimously recommended the appointment of
Darren Lehmann as the Club's new Captain for the defence of their
Championship title in 2002. Lehmann, 31 has been the outstanding performer throughout his time as the
club's overseas player. His record breaking 252 in the Roses Match at
Headingley in 2001 is just one of the highlights of his Yorkshire career. Lehmann will take over from retired captain David Byas who left the Club and
the game on top after winning the CricInfo County Championship in 2001 33
years after the Club's last Championship win in 1968. The appointment of Darren Lehmann will be rectified by the Yorkshire's
