Made 11 Championship appearances but often sparingly used because pitches were not always suited to his left-arm spin. Excellent bowling against Essex at Chelmsford did much to secure victory as well as making him the first choice spinner for the remainder of the season. Showed real promise with the bat and in his final knock of the season against Surrey he compiled his maiden half-century.
